Fribourg: Notable Swiss City - Minister issues warning against construction halt at savings bank gathering
Recently, Minister Nicole Razavi cautioned against delaying residential construction projects. During the Landes-Sparkassentag in Freiburg on Thursday, she remarked, "Delaying construction today creates a housing shortage tomorrow." Razavi is a representative of the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Stuttgart.
She went on to say, "We've observed about a 30% decline in building application submissions." The situation with loans for construction is also deteriorating. With lower incomes nowadays, it is becoming infeasible for ordinary citizens to take out the necessary funds to build a home or apartment. The restrictions on construction, renovation, and living are increasingly making the process more difficult, costly, and restricted.
Earlier this year, the construction industry in Baden-Württemberg expressed concerns about poor economic conditions. Thomas Möller, the general manager of the industry, emphasized the need for better regulatory support to help pull the sector out of its crisis. Amid the ongoing crisis, the industry is grappling with supply chain disruptions and increasing costs for construction materials, all while facing higher interest rates.
Matthias Neth, the president of Landes-Sparkassen, stressed that progress must be made on issues regarding bureaucratic barriers and land availability. It is crucial to make the building and housing experience more affordable overall. "There's uncertainty in the housing construction market even among these companies", Neth added.
The Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg advocates for the interests of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. This organization claims to represent 50 Sparkassen, the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, the Landesbausparkasse Südwest, and the SV Sparkassen-Versicherung.
