Holidays - Mining museum attracts visitors with underground Christmas market

Visitors to a Christmas market in Goslar on the third weekend of Advent should not be afraid of heights. This is because the market at the Rammelsberg Mining Museum on the southern outskirts of Goslar will take place partly underground on Saturday and Sunday, according to the operators. The traditional event takes place every year.

The organizers were satisfied with the response on the first day. The market was very well attended, said a spokesperson on Saturday. "We are completely satisfied."

In the former mine shafts, visitors are offered regional handicrafts and food, among other things. There is a stage and entertainment program throughout the day. The organizers advertised reading sessions with Santa Claus and glass blowers, for example. The mine will also be festively decorated for the event, for which visitors will need a ticket. Guided tours are also possible.

The Christmas market in the mine is not the only unusual one in the Harz Mountains. A Christmas market was held at Germany's oldest thoroughbred stud farm in Bad Harzburg on each of the first two Advent weekends.
