Hanover Region - Minibus via app: Sprinti receives award
Award for the Sprinti: the on-demand service rolled out in twelve municipalities in the Hanover region has won the German Mobility Award in Berlin. The project was entered in the "Good Practice" category, the Hannover Region announced on Friday. This category is awarded to projects whose implementation is particularly transferable to other regions or which make their knowledge particularly accessible. Users can use an app to book an electrically powered Sprinti bus, which then stops a maximum of 200 meters away from the passenger.
The mobility prize is awarded annually by the Federal Ministry of Transport and is reportedly one of the most important awards in the mobility sector. The Üstra transport company has been operating the Sprinti project on behalf of the region since August 2023.
Regional President Steffen Krach spoke of a "great success" for the region: "We have better connected an area twice the size of Berlin to public transport and that means a noticeable improvement in the quality of life for people." This must be continued - also with the support of the federal government, demanded the SPD politician. Head of Transport Ulf-Birger Franz said that around 360,000 people in the Hanover region benefit from the Sprinti.
According to earlier information, 100 minibuses are to support local transport in the Hanover region this year. There are also model projects of this kind in other regions of Lower Saxony. For example, the Flexo minibus is on the road in seven rural project areas in the greater Braunschweig area.
