In North Rhine-Westphalia, the number of people earning over a million euros has grown yet again this year. IT.NRW, the State Statistical Office, revealed that the region now has 6,550 income millionaires, an 9.9% or 591 increase compared to 2019. They also shared that there was an increase of 1.9% the previous year. Unfortunately, no more recent numbers have been shared.
Meerbusch, a town close to Düsseldorf, led the pack with an average of 18.4 millionaires per 10,000 residents. Other areas with high millionaire density were Herdecke in the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, which had a value of 11.0, and Düsseldorf, which placed third with 10.3. Across the entire state of North Rhine-Westphalia, 3.7% of its 10,000 citizens had an income of at least a million euros (down from the 2019 figure of 3.3).
