Bavarian Film Award - Milli Vanilli film nominated
The makers of the film "Girl You Know It's True" have a chance of winning the Bavarian Film Award. The film about the rise and fall of pop duo Milli Vanilli has been nominated in the "Best Film" category, the State Chancellery announced in Munich on Monday. The biopic by director Simon Verhoeven opens in cinemas on Thursday.
Also in the running for the coveted award are the literary adaptation "Die Mittagsfrau", based on a novel by Julia Franck, and the German-Austrian comedy "Rickerl - Musik is höchstens a Hobby", in cinemas from February 1, 2024.
"It will be a difficult decision with this selection," commented Minister of State Florian Herrmann on the jury's choice. The Bavarian Film Award will be presented in eleven categories on January 19, 2024. Prize money totaling 300,000 euros will be awarded, 100,000 euros of which will go to the best film. The gala, hosted by Sandra Rieß in Munich's Prinzregententheater, will be broadcast live on ARD Mediathek from 6.45 p.m. and on BR television from 10 p.m.
