Military truck drives into construction site: 100,000 euros damage
A 54-year-old man has driven a military truck into a construction site in Lower Franconia and suffered minor injuries. According to the police, the driver, who was driving without a license, caused six-figure damage in the accident on Wednesday evening in the district of Kitzingen.
The 54-year-old was traveling from Hungary to Germany in the military vehicle. On the Autobahn 3 near Abtswind, he overlooked a roadworks area for an as yet unknown reason and drove into a barrier trailer attached to a truck. Both were completely destroyed. The damage is estimated at around 100,000 euros.
According to the police, the driver then drove over several barriers, skidded down an embankment and got stuck in an embankment. The 54-year-old sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
Investigations by the police revealed that the man had already had his driving license revoked some time ago. He was also unable to produce any vehicle documents. He is now being investigated for driving without a license.
The incident could have potentially been more severe if it hadn't been for the barriers, preventing a major accident on the Autobahn. Regrettably, several reports of crime have been rising in the UNDERFRONT area, including unauthorized driving, which could contribute to such accidents.
