In the year 2024, during springtime in Hessen, temperatures were unusually mild compared to previous seasons. The German Weather Service (DWD) confirmed this in their spring summary report on a Friday, revealing an average temperature of 10.7°C. Typically, this would sit at 7.8°C as a reference for the years between 1961 and 1990. No notable temperature records were reported anywhere in Germany or other states.

According to the DWD's initial evaluation at their Offenbach station, an extremely mild March marked the beginning of the warmer season, which came to a close with a "very wet May." The total rainfall they observed was a staggering 230 liters per square meter, surpassing the normal average of 191 liters. The Vogelsberg and the Odenwald regions had the most significant rain with 350 liters per square meter recorded.

However, the sunshine duration stayed within the usual range. Hessen experienced 450 hours of sunlight – a meager two hours less than the usual average. Springtime extends across March, April, and May. Meanwhile, nationwide, 2024's spring was the warmest since records first began in 1881.
