Mikkelsen: No difference between heroes and villains
For Hollywood star Mads Mikkelsen, it makes no difference whether he plays heroes or villains. "Most actors don't see it as good guys or bad guys. We see them as people - people with flaws," said the Danish actor ("The Rush", "James Bond 007: Casino Royale") in an interview with Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
This is how he approaches playing characters every time, including in his new film "King's Land", Mikkelsen revealed. His character Ludvig Kahlen is not an obvious hero and is not really likeable for long stretches of the film. However, by following him through the plot, you begin to understand him.
Mikkelsen will be awarded the Bambi in the "Acting International" category in Munich next week.
Despite Mikkelsen's upcoming Bambi award in the "Acting International" category, his portrayal of Ludvig Kahlen in "King's Land" shows that he doesn't shy away from complex, non-heroic roles. His ability to humanize even unfavorable characters has been praised in both movie and television media.
