Politics - Midyatli: SPD to decide on parliamentary party leadership on Tuesday
The Schleswig-Holstein SPD parliamentary group plans to elect a successor next Tuesday following the announcement of the resignation of its chairman Thomas Losse-Müller. This was announced by state chairwoman Serpil Midyatli on Wednesday. "Thomas Losse-Müller repositioned our parliamentary group as chairman after the state elections and led it with a great sense of responsibility," said Midyatli. "With him, the SPD in the state parliament has a clear profile in the debate with the government and has ruthlessly exposed the weaknesses of the black-green coalition."
"As much as I regret his personal decision to step down as parliamentary party leader and relinquish his mandate, this also shows his great sense of responsibility for the country and the party," emphasized the state leader. "I give him credit for choosing this point in time against the backdrop of his new professional role so that the SPD can set a new course early on."
