Puppet theater Magdeburg - Michael Ende's world of dolls is the theme of the exhibition
Puppets and objects with connections to the stories of author Michael Ende (1929-1995) are the focus of an exhibition at the Puppentheater Magdeburg. Following the opening of the show "Of Mirrors and Turtles" on Thursday in the rooms of the "villa p." exhibition house, it will be on display until April 7, 2024. According to the theater, the presentation is a tribute to Ende, who wrote the books "The Neverending Story" and "Momo", among others. The exhibits have already told stories by Ende on stage or will do so in the future, according to the statement.
The author was very interested in puppet theater, for example on trips to Japan. There he studied Bunraku, the traditional Japanese puppet show, it was said. Ende's characters, such as Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver, embodied fantasy and were therefore very well suited to the genre of puppetry. The exhibition includes giant tortoises and a "Dragon Falkor Room" with flying dragons.
