- Metro Line 1 has resumed its regular operation – Issue resolved.
After a fire department intervention and a communication hiccup on a Saturday night, trains on Berlin's S1 line in its southwestern sector got back on track. The issues were sorted out close to midnight, as a railway representative shared on Sunday morning. Previously, the S-Bahn was running with a 20-minute gap between Potsdam and Berlin-Schöneberg. The root cause was a communication glitch in Berlin-Zehlendorf.
Further complications arose due to a fire department response at the S-Bahn station Botanischer Garten on Saturday. This disrupted the route connecting Zehlendorf and Schöneberg temporarily.
A malfunctioning braking mechanism triggered smoke release in an S-Bahn train, according to a spokesperson from the Berlin fire department, who spoke to the German media outlet. Since the train was stationary, all travelers managed to disembark safely. No injuries were reported.
The disruption in the S-Bahn service affected the southwestern sector of Berlin's S1 line, specifically impacting the route between Zehlendorf and Schöneberg. Despite the Southwest sector's challenges, the trains resumed operations after the issues were resolved.
