- Merseburg University is receiving 5G technology installation.
At Merseburg University, a fresh 5G university-wide network has been introduced, unlocking potential in fields like autonomous vehicles or supply chain management. "Pleasing living quarters require strong digital foundations," stated Infrastructure Minister Lydia Hüsken (FDP) during the launch.
The 5G wireless technology brings forth a plethora of digital opportunities for both business and individual consumers. Applications in sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and virtual reality might soon become a reality with the new network.
Riding on the information from the Infrastructure Ministry, this is the initial 5G campus network within the region. Estimated expenditure for construction and operation over the next seven years falls around one million euros. The network's range only extends to Merseburg University and the adjoining Merseburger Innovation and Technology Center, ensuring localized digital traffic within the campus network. Similar top-notch 5G campus networks are already up and running at other institutions, such as the Brandenburg University of Technology or the Helios Clinic in Leipzig.
The 5G network introduced at Merseburg University is expected to significantly enhance digital capabilities in sectors like manufacturing and healthcare. Businesses and individuals can leverage the new 5G campus network for various applications, such as augmented reality in manufacturing or telemedicine in healthcare.
