Police check - Men refuse to cooperate: "Reichsbürger" suspicion

Two men have refused to be checked by the police at the border crossing in Furth im Wald (district of Cham). There were indications that they belonged to the "Reichsbürger" scene, the federal police announced on Friday.

The 45 and 48-year-old men had arrived in a van from the Czech Republic on Thursday. They had not wanted to show their IDs, had locked the doors and had not rolled down the windows. Behind them, they had shown documents that were illegible to the officers.

The police called for reinforcements and threatened to smash the windows, to which the men did not react. When officers smashed the windows and opened the doors, the driver held on to the steering wheel and the passenger in turn held on to the driver, the police said.

Officers pulled the men out of the vehicle, whereupon they became mentally disturbed and were taken to hospital. The Waldmünchen Federal Police Inspectorate began an investigation into resisting law enforcement officers and violations of the Passport Act and the Identity Card Act.

During further police measures at the police station after their release from hospital, the men were again uncooperative. They had to be carried by officers. The 45-year-old suffered another seizure and was taken to hospital again.

After consultation with the public prosecutor's office, the two men were finally released.
