Böblingen - Men give chase with police

Two men had a chase with the police in Böblingen and then committed further offenses. A 32-year-old driver and his 59-year-old passenger were asked to stop for a routine police check on Wednesday when the driver suddenly stepped on the pedal, police said on Thursday. Among other things, the driver disregarded several red lights and finally drove into a parking lot.

According to the police, the driver and passenger presumably changed places there. The 59-year-old continued the chase, they said. The getaway car was stopped a short time later. A preliminary drug test on the 32-year-old tested positive, according to the statement. He also did not have a driver's license. In addition, the police discovered possible burglary tools in the car. Both men were subsequently released.

However, the previous offenses did not stop there on Wednesday. According to the police, witnesses observed the men a little later when they caused an accident themselves. The 32-year-old got back into the car in a parking lot despite having been forbidden to drive on. Instead of using an existing parking lot exit, he tried to drive over a high curb. The car became so stuck that a crane later had to be used to recover it.

When the officers tried to bring the man back to the station, he resisted, it was said. No one was injured. The man now faces charges including endangering road traffic, two counts of driving without a license and resisting law enforcement officers.
