Two intoxicated men are suspected of severely injuring a homeless man in Aschaffenburg with punches and kicks. The two, aged 20 and 21, filmed themselves and were caught red-handed by police, as police and prosecutors reported.

Passersby called the emergency number on Sunday morning after hearing cries for help. When police arrived in the city center, they allegedly found the two men attacking the 48-year-old who was lying on the ground. The men were arrested by the officers.

The 48-year-old was reportedly barely responsive and was taken to a clinic. According to initial investigations, the men, under the influence of alcohol, attacked the man for at least half an hour. The homeless man suffered severe injuries, including to his head. The men allegedly took turns filming the attack with their smartphones.

Police seized the men's smartphones and took blood samples from them. A judge issued a warrant for their detention on Monday due to suspicion of dangerous bodily harm. The background and sequence of events are still being investigated, it was further reported.
