Memorial for police officers who died in the line of duty
Baden-Württemberg's Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) has strongly condemned the increasing violence against police officers. Strobl said on Friday in Stuttgart before a memorial service for officers who died in the line of duty: "The inhibition threshold for using physical violence against those who ensure the protection of our state and the people who live here is unfortunately getting lower and lower." That gives him a lot to think about. It will not be accepted and he reminds everyone once again that there is a human being in every uniform.
According to the press release, a memorial service is planned in Stuttgart on Sunday. Every year on the Sunday of the Dead, the Baden-Württemberg police commemorate their colleagues who were killed or fatally injured in the line of duty, the Ministry of the Interior announced. Since the end of the Second World War, 84 of these people have had their names immortalized on a glass stele by artist Raphael Seitz. The stele will be displayed at the ceremony as a visible sign of remembrance and reminder.
The Internal Security department in Baden-Württemberg is strengthening efforts to address the rising aggression towards police officers, recognizing the lowering inhibition threshold for physical violence. The police force is vigilantly maintaining their commitment to internal security, serving as a protective shield for the state's citizens.
