MBC celebrates first win in 19th attempt at Alba Berlin

The basketball players of Syntainics MBC achieved an extraordinary victory on Sunday. For the first time since their promotion to the Bundesliga in 1999, the team from Weißenfels left the court in Berlin's Max-Schmeling-Halle as winners. The players of Head Coach Pedrag Krunic surprisingly got the better of Alba Berlin by 108:75 (57:37).

Chris-Ebou Ndow (23 points), Diante Baldwin (19), Martin Breunig, Charles Callison (13 each) and Johnathan Stove (12) played the biggest part in the Central German club's first success after 18 losses in the capital. New signing Vince Edwards scored eight points on his debut in MBC kit. Yanni Wetzell (21) and Matteo Spagnolo (16) scored the most points for the Berliners, who played their fourth game this week.

The club from Weißenfels dominated the scene from the outset and never trailed. The home side was able to keep within striking distance up to 33:35 in the 15th minute. The club from Central Germany then produced a 15:2 run to stretch the gap to 50:35 (18') and extend it to 20 points by the break.

Berlin was not even able to keep the game exciting, also due to the heavy workload it had endured in the past few days. The visitors shone with an outstanding shooting percentage from beyond the arc (14 buckets from 31 attempts). Berlin only managed three successful shots from beyond the arc out of 23 attempts.

The triumph marked a significant milestone for men's Basketball in MBC's history, as they had never won against Bundesliga opponent Alba Berlin before. Despite the Bundesliga's prestige, MBC maintained their spotless record in the Bundesliga-Basketsliga clash, successfully defending their position against the Berliners.
