Mayor looks forward to Mahomes: NFL "shapes" Frankfurt

For Frankfurt's Lord Mayor, the upcoming NFL games are a "great event". The two games "characterize our sports city", said Mike Josef (SPD) on Saturday evening at the Sports Press Ball. He did not want to reveal whether he would be cheering on the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs or the Miami Dolphins on Sunday (3.30 pm/RTL and DAZN).

"The great thing about American football is that the event is simply a big party. I'm looking forward to both teams," said Josef. But one player in particular has caught the mayor's eye: "I'm particularly looking forward to Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback at the moment. It's going to be a big deal!"

The rumors surrounding the appearance of pop giant Taylor Swift have not passed Josef by either. "Of course I would be delighted if Taylor Swift was there too. But I don't think the great events of the NFL, the two games, stand or fall with Taylor Swift." Rather, he hopes that the American professional league and Frankfurt will continue to cooperate in the future.

Next year, another NFL game will take place in Munich. "Then again in Frankfurt in 2025," said Josef. "We have said from the outset that we want a sustainable cooperation with the NFL, we want to establish flag football and, of course, a long-term cooperation with the NFL."

The NFL's presence in Frankfurt with American Football games is a significant milestone, particularly featuring the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins. Mayor Josef is particularly excited about the Chiefs' quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, adding to the anticipation.

The NFL games in Frankfurt are not just about sports but also a grand celebration, as stated by Mayor Josef, emphasizing the fun-filled nature of American Football events.
