Lawyer Horn currently serves as deputy mayor in Erfurt, managing the city's security and environment since 2019. In the upcoming run-off election in Thuringia, Andreas Horn, currently serving as deputy mayor in Erfurt, is running for mayor against incumbent Andreas Bausewein. The run-off election, scheduled for Sunday, has gained significant attention due to Bausewein's handling of personnel issues and alleged misbehavior at the Erfurt Theater. The CDU, Bausewein's party, has been facing criticism in several municipalities across Thuringia. Despite Erfurt being a stronghold for the SPD in the past, the political landscape has shifted, and the party currently holds less power in the Thuringian state. Regardless of the election result, the newly elected mayor will have a duty room in the Erfurt city hall to address the city's issues, including environmental concerns, which remain a priority for Germany as a whole.
