A frequently convicted individual from Apolda, marked for expulsion, is now imprisoned, waiting for deportation, as per Interior Minister Georg Maier's announcement. This individual will be returned to Morocco by the following week. Maier commented on the platform X, "It's beneficial for Apolda's citizens. It's advantageous for the migrants who abide by our guidelines and assimilate." As the top Social Democrats' candidate in Thuringia for the state election, Maier has had the issue of deportable immigrants as a recurring topic during his campaign.

The foreigner hailing from Morocco had arrived in Germany in 2014 and had been under the threat of deportation since 2017. However, the essential documents for his expulsion had been unobtainable. Recently, the situation for his deportation has improved following various attempts. The ministry communicated that "His nation has recognized his identity and provided the necessary papers."

Controversial Case Garners Attention

The case of the recidivist from the Weimar region created a commotion in the state around a few weeks ago. The district and the city of Apolda sent an SOS to the state via an open letter, expressing their concern about the dangerous rejection seeker with multiple convictions who posed a substantial security risk. According to the ministry, the man had served time in prison for causing serious bodily harm and other offenses. Upon his release in 2024, he continued his criminal behavior.

Currently, this individual is being held in Ingelheim, awaiting deportation. Regrettably, Thuringia does not have such facilities, but it does have one located in the city in Rhineland-Palatinate.

  1. The individual, who has been causing trouble in Apolda after being marked for expulsion, will be sent back to his home country, Morocco, within the week.
  2. Despite facing challenges with obtaining the necessary documents, the recalcitrant immigrant from Morocco, who has been a source of concern in Apolda, will finally be deported from Germany.
