Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival with 226 screenings

At the 45th Max Ophüls Preis film festival from January 22 to 28 in Saarland, 18 prizes worth a total of 118,500 euros will be awarded. This was announced by the organizers on Friday in Saarbrücken.

Saarbrücken - Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival with 226 screenings

At the 45th Max Ophüls Preis film festival from January 22 to 28 in Saarland, 18 prizes worth a total of 118,500 euros will be awarded. This was announced by the organizers on Friday in Saarbrücken.

58 films in the four categories feature film, documentary, medium-length film and short film are taking part in the competitions. Together with the side and special series, 131 films will be shown in 226 screenings at seven venues. "A film year full of emotion, depth and the desire for freedom," said program director Theresa Winkler to the German Press Agency.

The Max Ophüls Prize is considered the most important festival for young German-language film and stands for the discovery of young talent from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. At the most recent edition almost a year ago, the organizers recorded more than 38,000 visits to the cinemas and events.

The 45th Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival will also take place in a dual format. A selection of the films will once again be available to stream via the film festival website.
