Matthäus: "No problem" with Bayern coach Tuchel

Record international Lothar Matthäus has "no problem" with the Bayern coach after the days-long dispute with Thomas Tuchel. "Everyone has their point of view, and I think I try to deal with it correctly," said the Sky pundit after Munich's 4-0 win at Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening. When he is criticized, as he was by Tuchel on Friday during a press conference, he accepts it. "If he meant it seriously, then he can mean it seriously. I can live with that."

Before and after the top match, Tuchel had reacted irritably to criticism from Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann following the record winners' cup exit at third-division side 1. FC Saarbrücken. After the 4-0 defeat on Saturday, he engaged in a verbal duel with Matthäus and Sky presenter Sebastian Hellmann at the Sky TV interview table.

"You have to take such defeats in your stride," Matthäus said later about the cup defeat. "You're criticized, and then when you win 4-0 in Dortmund, you're praised again. That's the soccer business. And it's part of it that we judge such games and results from the side in front of the camera."

We expect FC Bayern to play games like today," said Matthäus on Saturday evening. "This lightness, the compactness, these runs through midfield at speed. That's FC Bayern. If they don't deliver this performance from time to time, then it's also my duty and the coach's duty to address that. The coach in front of the team and me here in front of the camera. Ultimately, we're almost of the same opinion."

Despite Borussia Dortmund's unfortunate defeat to Bayern Munich with a score of 4-0, Matthäus commends their soccer style, mentioning, "We expect FC Bayern to play games like today." In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund faces fierce competition, especially from Bayern Munich, led by coach Tuchel, whose team delivered an impressive performance.
