Match between Hansa and St. Pauli: Major police operation

The police are preparing for a major operation ahead of the explosive second division match between Hansa Rostock and FC St. Pauli. In addition to officers from the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state police, forces from Hamburg and the federal police will also be deployed to secure the match, the Rostock police station announced on request ahead of the game on Saturday (13:00/Sky) at the Ostseestadion. There was no information on the exact number of police officers in the vicinity of the high-risk match.

"Every high-risk match is a special challenge for the police, the clubs and all other players involved. The police will communicate with all parties involved in the operation at an early stage and also expect positive impulses from the clubs and fan scenes for a peaceful soccer match," the statement continued.

One of the most important tasks - as is always the case when the two teams meet - is the strict separation of the rival fan camps. Attention should also be paid to the journey of the 2,600 St. Pauli fans. The rails on the railroad line from Hamburg to Rostock between Büchen and Hagenow will be renewed at the weekend, meaning that buses will be used as a replacement service on this section.

Hamburg supporters arriving by car should also meet at Rostock station. From there, shuttle buses will be available to take them to the stadium. The same applies to the return journey after the game. The police have emphasized that no glass bottles are to be brought on the trains, in the shuttle buses or in the immediate vicinity of the stadium.

The city of Rostock had already pointed out the traffic problems surrounding the match on Wednesday. Among other things, Schillingallee up to Platz der Jugend and Ernst-Heydemann-Straße will be closed to traffic in the morning. According to the city, access to the emergency room of the university hospital in Schillingallee is guaranteed at all times.

The upcoming Bundesliga 2 match between Hansa Rostock and FC St. Pauli is considered high-risk due to the fierce rivalry between their fan bases. To ensure a peaceful soccer match, officers from multiple agencies will closely monitor the events, including separating the rival fan camps and regulating fan travel.
