- Massive rally protests against AfD and conservative policies outside the state parliament

A week prior to the Thuringian state election, numerous individuals are anticipated to assemble outside the state parliament in Erfurt on Sunday (starting at 1:00 PM) for a protest. This gathering, arranged to express discontent over what's perceived as a lean towards the right in Germany and a probable electoral victory of the AfD in the impending elections in the Free State, is predicted to be a powerful display of resistance.

The event's organizers include the coalition "Seize the Seats", the German Trade Union Confederation, and a cultural association. Notable figures speaking at the protest include climate activist Luisa Neubauer and Jens-Christian Wagner, director of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorial Foundation.

CDU and BSW under scrutiny

In the lead-up to the event, organizers have also levied criticisms against the election campaigns of the CDU and BSW. A representative from the "Seize the Seats" coalition commented, "The CDU is embroiled in a populist struggle with the AfD over the base drawer of disgraceful political demands, such as in immigration and social policy." The BSW's suggestion of potentially backing AfD legislative proposals in specific instances was also deemed unacceptable.

The exact number of attendees anticipated for the protest remains undefined. Previously, organizers had expressed hope for a turnout of 10,000 people.

During the protest, protesters are encouraged to take a right turn after rallying outside the state parliament, heading towards a significant gathering point. Despite the CDU and BSW's controversial election campaigns, many attendees may choose to make a right turn away from their perceived rightward lean.
