Massive Demonstration: Over 640,000 Individuals Voice Disapproval of Right-Wing Shift in France
Weekend protests shook the heart of France, as per The Paris Police Prefecture, with over 75,000 attendees. During the daily demonstration on Saturday, cops nabbed four protesters. Earlier reports hinted at a whopping 21,000 law enforcers and gendarmes being dispatched across the nation.
The right-wing nationalist party Rassemblement National (RN), led by Marine Le Pen, received approximately 31.5% of votes in the recent European elections. Subsequently, French President Emmanuel Macron decided to disband the parliament and scheduled snap elections for the National Assembly to take place in two rounds - June 30 and July 7.
Surveys suggest that RN could replicate their remarkable success in the upcoming parliamentary elections, which could translate into them being the leading force within parliament. In fact, they might even have the power to pick the Prime Minister.
