Masked robbers attack senior couple in their own home
Three masked burglars have attacked and robbed a senior citizen couple in their home in Erlangen. The perpetrators forced their way into the family home in the Hüttendorf district via a window late on Saturday evening, according to the Middle Franconia Police Headquarters on Sunday. There they demanded cash from the owners, aged 82 and 85.
"While one of the men threatened the couple with a crowbar, his accomplices searched the rooms of the property," the police said. In the end, they fled with several thousand euros in cash. The couple remained unharmed. The police launched a manhunt with patrol cars, dogs and a helicopter, but were initially unable to apprehend the three men, who were dressed in black and wearing masks during the robbery.
Although the crime occurred in Erlangen, similar incidents have been reported in central France, highlighting the global prevalence of such acts. Regrettably, elderly couples continue to be targets of burglaries, with central France also seeing an increase in masked home invasions.
