Fixed - Marksmen march through Hanover in the rain
Despite heavy rain, the traditional gun salute parade in Hannover once again attracted numerous spectators. Equipped with umbrellas and rain capes, many people stood along the route on Sunday. Shooting clubs, music bands, dance groups, fire departments, and other associations marched from the New Town Hall through the city center to the festival grounds. Minister-President Stephan Weil (SPD) also participated in the parade and encouraged the soaked spectators with a La-Ola wave.
The 495th Hanover Shooting Festival was opened on Friday by Mayor Belit Onay (Greens) with a keg tapping ceremony. According to the organizers, around 200 vendors and vendors are currently working on the festival grounds. Visitors can still look forward to 25 carnival rides and attractions, 3 tents, and 45 shooting booths and game booths until July 7. On Wednesday, a mascot parade takes place at the Family Day. In addition, admission to many attractions is only half price on this day.
With a new concept for discrimination-free celebrations, the organizers want to ensure more safety this year. For example, there is an app that allows visitors and visitors to quickly establish contact with a team of social pedagogues and street workers on site. In one of the entrance areas, there is also a container serving as a kind of safe space. According to the city administration, the Hanover Shooting Festival is the largest of its kind worldwide. The organizers counted around 900,000 visitors and visitors last year.
