refugees - Many unauthorized entries at the Polish border
The Federal Police registered numerous illegal entries in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's border area with Poland within 24 hours. Among them, two 15- and 16-year-old girls from Somalia were found on Monday evening. They were handed over to the Youth Welfare Office Vorpommern Greifswald, as the authority announced on Monday.
Additionally, ten men and a woman from Somalia were detected by the officers in Nadrensee for having illegally crossed the so-called "green border" into Germany. Two Pakistani nationals were stopped by the police in Penkun while walking on the Autobahn 11, and six Afghans were found in Seebad Ahlbeck. All the persons were smuggled into Germany via the Belarus route.
- Despite these incidents, the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan remains relatively quiet for illegal migration.
- Some refugees from Afghanistan and Pakistan have been seeking asylum in Germany, citing safety and economic reasons.
- The police in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have been working closely with their counterparts in Poland to control the border and prevent illegal entries.
- In the Pasewalk area, there have been reports of increased police patrols in recent weeks, due to an influx of refugees from various countries.
- The German government is calling for increased international cooperation to address the root causes of migration, such as conflict and poverty in countries like Somalia and Afghanistan.
- The Federal Police is also monitoring the situation in border areas with neighboring countries, including those in Eastern Europe, to prevent possible entry points for refugees.
