Favorable situation for job seekers: Currently, there are significantly more vacant training positions than job seekers in Thuringia. Around 1,800 young adults have not yet found a training position this summer, according to the regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency. On the other hand, companies are currently looking for apprentices for about 5,100 positions. "Even though the official starting shot for the start of training is on August 1st, young people can still start an apprenticeship," said Torsten Narr from the management of the regional directorate.

From salesperson to automotive mechatronics technician

Around 1,100 applicants, mainly young men, are still looking for a position; among young women, it's around 680. Those seeking positions particularly wish for apprenticeships as salespersons, automotive mechatronics technicians, or office management clerks. According to the regional directorate, apprentices in sales are particularly sought after. In addition, the retail sector is particularly looking for trainees who want to become retail clerks. Many training positions for retail business management assistants are also still vacant.**

Apprentices in healthcare at the top of earnings

Apprentices in medical healthcare professions earn the most monthly, with an average of 1,272 euros. However, apprentices in tax consulting (1,221 euros) and childcare (1,186 euros) also count among the better earners among trainees. Overall, the average income of socially insured apprentices has increased significantly over the past few years: five years ago, it was 845 euros, and now it is 1,027 euros. However, living costs have also generally increased during this time.**

In Thuringia, more than 33,000 people are currently being trained in socially insured professions. Their average age is 20.4 years. 3,100 apprentices come from abroad.

In the current job market in Thuringia, despite over 1,800 young adults yet to secure a training position this summer, there are over 5,100 vacant training positions available. Many of these vacant positions are in sought-after fields such as salesperson, automotive mechatronics technician, or office management clerk.

Despite the variety of vacant training positions, particularly in retail and sales, many young individuals, including around 1,100 men and 680 women, are still searching for their training place.
