- Many thousands antenated for Christopher Street Festival in Bremen
Around 18,000 individuals are predicted to join the Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Bremen today, according to the organizers' statement. This year's event, advocating for the rights of lesbians, gays, and other non-conforming individuals, carries the theme "What do we want now? To be blatantly obvious, to live blatantly so!"
Various Bremen politicians have confirmed their involvement in the parade through the city center. The procession begins at 12:00 PM from Altenwall, traverses the district, reaches the main station, and then returns to Altenwall via the primary shopping street for a gathering. A bus with a low floor will accompany the demonstration, ensuring accessibility for disabled individuals.
The CSD pays tribute to the uprisings of the queer community in New York City's Christopher Street (USA) in 1969, symbolizing the visibility and equality of queer people. Alternative names for the now-annual CSD demonstrations in numerous locations are "Pride Parade" or "Gay Pride". The inaugural CSD in Germany took place 45 years ago in Bremen.
The demonstration during the CSD this year is expected to attract a large crowd, with around 18,000 individuals participating. Attendees can join the bus with a low floor, which will accompany the demonstration to ensure accessibility for disabled individuals.
