Los Angeles - Many stars at the Academy Museum's Hollywood Gala

After being canceled at short notice due to the Middle East conflict, the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles was held on Sunday evening. Many stars appeared on the red carpet, including actress Meryl Streep (74), presenter Oprah Winfrey (69), director Sofia Coppola (52), singer Billie Eilish (21) and Leonardo DiCaprio (49).

The gala was originally scheduled to take place on October 14. Out of respect for the "devastating conflict and loss of life", the event was postponed, the museum announced on Instagram the day before. The donations from the fundraiser event were to go towards museum programs.

Three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep ("The Iron Lady") was recognized at the gala with an honorary award as an "Icon". The prize is awarded to artists who have had a "significant, worldwide cultural influence".

US director and actor Michael B. Jordan ("Creed III - Rocky's Legacy"), presenter and actress Oprah Winfrey ("The Color Purple") and director, screenwriter and actress Sofia Coppola ("Lost in Translation") were also honored for their contributions to the film industry.
