Food - Manufacturer recalls cheese wheel
The manufacturer Route des Terroirs has recalled the cheese wheel "Morbier Maison Monts & Terroirs". There is a suspicion that it contains potentially pathogenic e-coli bacteria, the portal of the federal states and the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety announced on Thursday.
Loaves weighing seven kilograms and with a best-before date of 17 January 2024 are affected. The bacteria are harmless colonizers of the human intestine, but can indicate the contamination of a food and trigger intestinal infections. Severe courses of illness are possible, especially in infants, small children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. According to the information, the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia are affected.
