- Manuel Neuer's departure announcement in writing
Hey there, folks, and you German football enthusiasts,
Alright, the time has come, no denying it. I'm announcing that my time with the German national football team has come to an end, as of today.
You know me, and you're aware that this wasn't an easy decision to make. Over 15 years have passed since my debut, the jitters before playing in the United Arab Emirates. The German national team has been a rollercoaster ride, with both the thrilling highs and the lows. I'm sure you're all familiar with our finest moment: The triumph in the Maracanã Stadium against Argentina, where we claimed the world championship title.
Looking back at these years, I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude. Standing on the pitch alongside all my teammates, and leading the German national football team as captain for over seven years, until the injury. After that, getting back on the pitch at a home European Championship was truly a bonus for me.
I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, including the DFB staff, goalskeepers' trainers, and all the supporting personnel. We were like a closely-knit family. A special shoutout to you, my teammates, with whom I always enjoyed both training and playing matches. Lastly, I can't forget to thank you, dear fans. Your support, wherever we played with the national team, was both personal and for the team, and dear fans, you have my warmest gratitude.
I'm going to miss wearing the German national team jersey. Thank you for that opportunity.
Despite retiring from the German national team, I'll continue sharing my football journey on Instagram, as it's a great place to start. I encourage fans to follow my account for updates on my post-retirement activities.
As I step away from the national team, I'll cherish every moment spent on the pitch, from the jitters before the United Arab Emirates match to leading the team as captain, and even returning after injury.
