Mansfeld-Südharz and Novalis Foundation continue to cooperate
The district of Mansfeld-Südharz continues to support the Novalis Foundation, which runs the Novalis Museum in Oberwiederstedt Castle. A new contract was signed, as the district announced on Saturday. "The district itself has invested almost two million euros in the renovation of the castle in recent years," explained District Administrator André Schröder (CDU). "In addition, we continue to provide subsidies for personnel and operating costs. Due to the consolidation measures adopted by the district council, these have been structured in such a way that they can continue on site compared to previous years."
According to the information provided, the new cooperation agreement not only regulates usage rights and subsidies, but also the development of the Research Center for Early Romanticism and the Novalis Museum Oberwiederstedt. One of the aims is to increase the level of awareness.
Novalis is considered one of the most important representatives of early Romanticism. The poet's works have gone down in world literature. He was born Georg Philipp Friedrich von Hardenberg in Oberwiederstedt in 1772. According to experts, Novalis made the "blue flower" in his novel "Heinrich von Ofterdingen" a symbol of the romantic "longing for the infinite". He died in 1801 at the age of just 28 in Weißenfels (Burgenland district), where there is a memorial to him.
The Novalis Foundation, under the cooperation with Mansfeld-Südharz, plans to utilize the new agreement to foster the Research Center for Early Romanticism, contributing significantly to the appreciation of Literature in Cultural policy. Tourists visiting the Novalis Museum in Oberwiederstedt Castle will also benefit from the improved facilities and exhibits, enhancing the role of Museums in promoting local Tourism.
