Criminal activity - Mannheim City: Condolence book for slain police officer
"A young, well-respected police officer's life was taken in an unthinkable manner, leaving me in disbelief," expressed Mayor Christian Specht (CDU) in the opening of this publication. "The ruthless killing of Rouven, who was putting his life on the line to protect others, has not only left me stunned but also left many in Mannheim and beyond stupefied and speechless."
Rouven, a 25-year-old serviceman, was brutally stabbed by an attacker wielding a knife at the city center's market square on the previous Friday. Despite the frantic efforts of medics, he succumbed to his wounds. The suspected assailant, meanwhile, was shot by a fellow police officer and could not be interrogated yet.
