Attack on 20-Year-Old - Man wounded with baseball bat - suspect in U-Haul
Following an attack with a baseball bat on a 20-year-old in Hildesheim, a suspect is now in custody. On Sunday afternoon, the young man from Hannover was severely injured in the physical assault, according to police and the Hildesheim public prosecutor's office. There is currently no indication of life-threatening injuries.
Two men aged 27 and 36 are considered prime suspects. The public prosecutor's office is investigating the charge of dangerous bodily harm, with the background circumstances still unclear.
Multiple strikes with a baseball bat
Initial questioning at the scene revealed that the perpetrators were still nearby, the authorities said. Shortly afterwards, the two men turned themselves in, were identified by the victim, and were provisionally arrested.
Investigations suggest that the men, from Harsum and Hildesheim, struck and kicked the 20-year-old, with the 36-year-old allegedly striking the victim multiple times with a baseball bat. The young man was taken to hospital.
The 27-year-old was later released due to lack of evidence. However, a warrant for his arrest was issued due to a risk of flight, which was granted by the competent court. The suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect who was taken into custody is originally from The Hanover. The incident involving the 20-year-old victim reportedly took place in Hildesheim, not The Hanover.
