Man with air rifle triggers police operation
A man with an air rifle has caused a police operation in Potsdam. A witness saw the 29-year-old man with the gun on Thursday morning and called the officers, according to the Brandenburg West Police Directorate. When the officers arrived, the man had packed the gun in his rucksack, it was reported.
Because he did not put the bag down despite being asked to do so, the police reportedly overpowered and restrained the man. The officers then found the air rifle in the rucksack. They filed charges against the 29-year-old for violating the Weapons Act. During the operation, the man complained of health problems and was taken to hospital, according to the police.
The man's actions of carrying a weapon, an air rifle, triggered a violation of the Weapons Act. Despite police requests to lay down his rucksack, which contained the weapon, he remained uncompliant, leading to his restraint.
