A man has tried to bite a policewoman in his home in Weilerbach near Kaiserslautern. Two officers were injured during the incident late on Wednesday evening, the police said.

A man has tried to bite a policewoman in his home in Weilerbach near Kaiserslautern. Two officers were injured during the incident late on Wednesday evening, the police said.

An emergency call had been received that a man was rioting in his apartment and threatening people with a knife. When the police officers arrived, the 31-year-old threw a glass bottle in their direction. He then insulted the officers and tried to hit and bite them.

According to the police, the man was taken to hospital because he was in a state of mental distress. A blood test should now show whether he had consumed alcohol or narcotics. The police are investigating on suspicion of assault, among other things.
