Genetic matching - Man taken into custody following 21-year-old's passing in Niebüll
A couple of days after the unfortunate finding of a deceased 21-year-old woman in a woodland next to Niebüll, police have nabbed the supposed perpetrator. "We had hints that caused us to initially suspect the 35-year-old resident of Niebüll," stated Senior Public Prosecutor from Flensburg's office, Thorkild Petersen-Thrö, to the German News Agency on Thursday. On Wednesday, they conducted a search and retrieved a saliva sample from their suspect from Niebüll.
"Then there was a DNA match on Thursday," mentioned Petersen-Thrö. The man was detained on Wednesday. A judge ordered his arrest on Thursday, accusing him of murder along with rape of the 35-year-old. As per the Public Prosecutor's Office, he possesses German citizenship.
At this instant, there are no indicators of any links between them. The culprit resided quite distant from the victim. "They didn't know one another," affirmed Petersen-Thrö. He hasn't yet admitted to the crimes.
Motives and backgrounds of the crime are being investigated by the murder squad. The investigators at present don't identify any connection with the sexual assault reported on April 23 in Leck.
The kinfolk filed a missing person report for the 21-year-old on Friday since she didn't arrive as arranged. On Saturday morning, she was found lifeless in a forested locale. Based on police's former notification, she was last observed on Friday about 8:00 pm leaving the place she stayed. She was set to engage in sports in Marschenpark west of Niebüll.
