Processes - Man shot dead in shisha bar - trial must start again

A murder trial against a 25-year-old man who allegedly shot a man in a shisha bar together with an unknown accomplice will be reopened from Thursday (09:15). The main trial has to start again because a juror has fallen ill. At the start of the first trial, the defendant protested his innocence. "I had nothing to do with the murder. I did not commit the murder and was not the companion of the person who committed it," the German had his defense lawyer read out before the Hamburg District Court. He had not been in the shisha bar that evening.

According to the indictment, he is said to have accompanied the perpetrator who shot a man sitting in a shisha bar several times in July 2022. The 27-year-old died in hospital due to his serious injuries.

The murder trial, originally scheduled to take place in the Hamburg District Court, was disrupted due to a juror's illness, necessitating a reopening of the processes from Thursday. The defendant, a 25-year-old man, who denies involvement in the July 2022 shisha bar murder, claimed to have not been present at the scene. The incident took place in Hamburg, Germany, where a 27-year-old man lost his life following the shooting. Despite this, the indictment alleges that the defendant accompanied the perpetrator during several instances leading up to the deadly incident.
