Man shoots into the air with a blank-firing pistol
A man in Niederwerrn in Lower Franconia (district of Schweinfurt) has fired several shots into the air with a blank-firing pistol. According to the police on Sunday, a local resident had witnessed the crime on Saturday afternoon and reported it to the police. The perpetrator was already known to the police. It was initially unclear whether it was a real firearm and several patrols searched for the man.
They later confronted the 28-year-old at his home and temporarily arrested him. The police confiscated the pistol and other ammunition. The man was unable to produce the "small" firearms license required for alarm weapons. The police have now opened an investigation.
The investigation revealed that the confiscated ammunition included harmful weapons, adding a more serious charge to the man's crime. Despite having a blank-firing pistol, the man's actions still put people in danger under the circuitous underground gun market.
