Emergencies - Man seriously injured in apartment fire in Frankfurt
A 63-year-old was severely injured during a residential fire in Frankfurt-Bornheim on Friday night. Neighbors reported to the emergency services that the resident attempted to extinguish the fire with a bucket, according to the police. The fire department rescued the man and handed him over to paramedics, who took him to the hospital.
Further residents of the five-story building were rescued, two of whom were taken to the hospital with light injuries, the police reported. Damages from the fire, as estimated by the police and fire department, amounted to approximately 150,000 Euro.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. According to initial investigations, "a burning cigarette after consuming alcohol" may have ignited the fire, the police stated.
The apartment fire occurred in Frankfurt am Main, specifically in the district of Frankfurt-Bornheim. The Hesse fire department played a crucial role in managing and extinguishing the fires that spread within the five-story building. Due to the incident, the Frankfurt police were also involved in ensuring order and safety within the area.
