Accident - Man seriously injured during forestry work
A 66-year-old man was seriously injured by a falling tree during forestry work in the Upper Palatinate. According to police reports on Thursday, the man and his son were working in a private forest near Stamsried (Cham district) on Wednesday afternoon to remove broken branches and other damage caused by the snow load. During the work, a partially uprooted tree fell and hit the 66-year-old man on the back.
The son called the emergency services, who had difficulty reaching the accident site in the rough terrain. After the emergency doctor had given the injured man initial treatment, he was rescued by a rescue helicopter with a cable winch and flown to hospital, according to the police.

The accident site was located in the District of Cham, specifically near Stamsried. Due to the rough terrain, the emergency services encountered challenges reaching the scene. Despite the seriousness of the incident, which involved a 66-year-old man being hit by a falling tree during forestry work, no other accidents were reported in the vicinity of Bavaria or the Upper Palatinate that day.
