Crime - Man sentenced to prison for sexual assault of children

The Neubrandenburg Regional Court has sentenced a 49-year-old man from the Müritz region to six years in prison for sexual and serious sexual abuse of children. The chamber in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania considered it proven that the man sexually abused a friend of his son dozens of times and severely sexually abused him four times, as a court spokesperson said on Monday. The court was also convinced that the convicted man had sexually abused another boy once.

According to the court spokesman, the boys were ten or eleven years old at the time of the offense or at the beginning of the period of the offense. The exact days of the offense could not be determined. The public prosecutor had accused the man of abusing his son's friend more than 50 times between 2018 and 2021. He had abused the other boy in July 2019.

Apart from the sentencing, the trial took place in camera. According to the court spokesperson, the convicted man did not confess. The verdict is not yet final.
