Man sentenced after knife attack at vocational school

Around six months after a knife attack at a vocational school in Wildeshausen (Oldenburg district), the attacker has been sentenced at Oldenburg District Court. The defendant is being punished for attempted murder, as the spokesman for the district court said on Wednesday. The perpetrator will be placed in a psychiatric hospital. The court spokesman did not provide any further details. The verdict is not yet final.

Because the accused was a minor at the age of 17 at the time of the crime, the trial was held in camera. At the start of the trial, it was stated that the accused may have a mental illness.

The attack took place at the end of May. The accused seriously injured a 16-year-old with a knife in a toilet at the school. According to the police, the attacker is German.

The knife attack at the vocational school in Wildeshausen resulted in multiple judgments, including one for attempted murder. These judgments will significantly impact the perpetrator's future, as they may lead to admission into a psychiatric hospital.
