Berlin-Lichtenberg - Man injures woman with knife and then jumps out of window

A man is said to have injured a woman with a knife and threatened two police officers in Berlin-Lichtenberg- then he jumped out of the window. As the police reported on Sunday, a tenant of an apartment building in the Alt-Hohenschönhausen district noticed loud shouting in the stairwell on Saturday evening and alerted the police.

The officers found a 26-year-old man in an open apartment door on the third floor of the building. The man had held a knife in front of him and shouted at the police officers, whereupon they drew their firearms. The man then fled into the apartment and jumped out of the window into the courtyard.

According to the police, the accused was under the influence of drugs

According to the police, the 26-year-old injured a 53-year-old woman in the apartment with the knife - the woman received medical treatment in a clinic. Rescue workers took the 26-year-old to a hospital for inpatient treatment with injuries to his spine.

A breath test carried out on the accused revealed a blood alcohol level of over one per mille. He also stated that he had consumed other drugs. The two police officers remained unharmed. The 26-year-old now faces charges of threatening and assault. The investigation is ongoing.
