Man injures two police officers in Regensburg

A man suspected of being under the influence of drugs is said to have injured two police officers in Regensburg, Upper Palatinate. According to the police on Sunday, the officers were called on Saturday evening because the man was lying on the ground between two parked cars and was unresponsive. When the officers tried to help the 25-year-old man up, he lashed out.

All those involved fell to the ground in the scuffle. The 25-year-old tried unsuccessfully to tear the pepper spray from a policewoman's belt. After the man attacked the officers again, they used pepper spray and called for reinforcements. The officers used a stun gun. They were then able to overpower the 25-year-old. He was taken to a specialist psychiatric hospital.

A female officer and her colleague were injured during the operation. The latter suffered injuries to his knee and was no longer fit for duty. It was initially unclear whether the 25-year-old was injured. The police are investigating the man for, among other things, resisting and assaulting law enforcement officers.

The incident of violence against the police officers occurred in Regensburg, which is located in the OBERPFALZ region. The man's aggressive behavior led to injuries for a female officer and her colleague, both serving in the OBERPFALZ police force.
