Investigations - Man injures his partner and three police officers
Three police officers were injured in Lübeck during a police operation against a man for domestic violence. The police announced on Friday that the intoxicated man had initially attacked and slightly injured his partner during an argument. During the subsequent police operation, the man refused to follow the instructions of a policewoman. Instead, he punched the officer on Thursday and also punched one of her colleagues in the face. The officers overpowered and handcuffed the man and took him to the police station, where a blood sample was taken. Another officer was slightly injured in the process.
Preliminary proceedings were initiated against the man on suspicion of assault and battery on law enforcement officers. The youth welfare office was also informed about the couple's underage children.
According to police figures, officers were called to help in 1,122 cases of domestic violence in the Lübeck police district in 2023, 791 of which were in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck alone. The offenses ranged from insults, threats and coercion to rape, said the police spokeswoman.

The man's actions led to a determination by the police in Lübeck to intervene, as domestic violence and criminality are significant issues in Schleswig-Holstein, with 1,122 cases reported in the Lübeck police district alone last year. Despite the police operation's challenging circumstances, the officers showed remarkable determination in apprehending the man and ensuring his transfer to the police station for further investigation.
