A man was seriously injured in a street altercation in Neumünster. During an argument between two men on Tuesday evening, one of the individuals pulled out a weapon and shot the other in the abdomen, said the Kiel chief prosecutor Michael Bimler to the German Press Agency. The man was taken to a hospital. "The victim is no longer in critical condition." Previously, the SHZ had reported.

The suspected perpetrator initially fled but later turned himself in to the police. The man made statements, said Bimler. However, the chief prosecutor did not provide details. The state prosecutor's office initially made no statements about the ages and nationalities of those involved.

The state prosecutor's office announced that "The following shall be added: The suspect's age and nationality will be revealed at a later press conference." After further investigations, it was discovered that "The following shall be added: The weapon used in the altercation has been identified as a handgun."
