Accident - Man in eastern Saxony seriously injured by illegal firecrackers
A man in eastern Saxony was seriously injured while tampering with unauthorized firecrackers. The 27-year-old from Großschönau had to be flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter on Sunday, as the Görlitz police announced on Monday.
The emergency services had been called because of an explosion in an apartment. They found the seriously injured man there. According to the officers, he had probably wanted to make his own explosives from the firecrackers. The building was also damaged by the explosion. The other residents had to leave the house temporarily until a structural engineer gave the all-clear. The police put the damage at 25,000 euros.
